      The Basics

      What Is Imported
      Vehicle Compliance?

Before a vehicle brought in from overseas can be presented for Australian road registration, it usually needs to be brought into line with Australian requirements. Compliance is the workshop process of checking, adjusting and preparing that vehicle so it meets the standard that applies to it.

Requirements vary from vehicle to vehicle. The make and model, the year, the country it came from and the pathway used to import it all change what work is needed — which is why we ask about your specific vehicle before quoting.

At Sinergy Motorsports, we operate a compliance workshop focused on Japanese and UK imports. We can talk you through whether your vehicle is a fit for us to work on, and what the process would look like if it is.

RAWS stands for the Registered Automotive Workshop Scheme — the Commonwealth framework Australian workshops operate under when preparing eligible used imported vehicles for supply to the market. Whether a particular vehicle qualifies under RAWS or another pathway is something we confirm on a case-by-case basis.

      FAQ

      Frequently Asked Questions

Straightforward answers to the questions we hear most often. For anything vehicle-specific, please get in touch.

Can you help with my make and model?

We specialise in Japanese and UK imports, but whether we can accept a particular vehicle depends on the make, model, year and the pathway it was — or will be — imported under. The quickest way to find out is to send us the vehicle details through the enquiry form or give the workshop a call.

Can I enquire before purchasing a vehicle?

Yes — in fact, it’s often better to. Getting in touch during your research means we can talk through whether the vehicle you’re looking at is a good candidate for compliance before you commit to buying.

      What information should I send?

To start the conversation, useful details are the make, model, year and the vehicle’s current location — overseas, in transit or already in Australia. Anything else you have (auction sheet, seller listing, shipping information) can be shared later if we need it.

      How much will compliance cost?

There isn’t a single price — cost depends on the specific vehicle and the work it needs. Once we’ve reviewed your enquiry and confirmed the vehicle details, we’ll provide a quote so you can decide before any work begins.

How long does the process take?

Timing varies with the vehicle, the work required and current workshop bookings. We’re not going to guess — once we’ve discussed your vehicle, we’ll be able to give you a realistic sense of the timeline for your specific situation.

Do I need a registration number to enquire?

No. The initial enquiry only needs your name and a way to reach you. Vehicle-specific numbers (rego, VIN, chassis) can come later once we’re talking about a particular car.

      Where is your workshop?

We’re at 21 Paula Avenue, Windsor Gardens SA 5087, in Adelaide’s north-eastern suburbs.
